Dress 13 – Side-to-Side

Materials

Pattern Note: Ch2 always counts as 1 st.

Working dress side-to-side from top to bottom, starting at bustline center back, Ch31

R1: hdc in 2th st from hk, hdc next 2sts, sc next 6sts, dc next 20sts (30sts)

R2: ch2, turn, dc in next 19sts, hdc in next 6sts, dc in last 8sts

R3: ch2, turn, hdc in next 3sts, sc next 6sts, dc next 20sts

R4-17: rept R2 and R3 alternately, ending at hem-line

Fold dress in half, top to top, bottom to bottom, sl st to join both pieces together. Sc loosely up back by picking up the back loop of the piece closest to you and the free loop of the foundation change. Turn dress inside-out. DO NOT finish off yarn. (Note: because yarn is now coming up from the center of the dress, you may want to finish off yarn and re-attach it, but it’s not necessary to do so.)

Straps and Neck-line

In order to put the straps on the dress, and give more height to the neckline, you will be working in the row ends. So it is important to lay the dress flat, with the center back seam positioned in the center of the dress. Then take 4 small safety pins and mark where the straps should be positioned (fig 1)

(Fig 1)

Working from back center, ch1, 4sc to first pin, ch6, sc at 2nd pin, 8sc to next pin, ch6, sc in next pin space, 4sc to center, join, finish off.

Hat

Starting at the crown with MC ch3, join to form a circle

R1: ch1, 8scs in center of circle, join (9sts)

R2: ch2, dc in the same space, 2dcs in ea st around, join (18sts)

R3: ch2, [dc next st, 2dcs in next st] around, join
